A wall mounted dressing table and mirror set designed by Egon Bro Petersen and made by master cabinetmaker K. Thomsen in 1941. Crafted from solid and veneered Ash with a hint of intricate joint work in oak on the underside. This elegant dressing table is designed with a roll top display case to store away items that would clutter up the desk. With two small drawers giving more space for smaller items. All edges have been smooth over by a beautiful edge detail following all the edges of the desk and mirror. The drawers en back of the desk show the mastery of K. Thomsen in crafting timeless and lasting pieces of furniture with strong and elegant dovetail connections throughout.
A rare but well documented piece of design history mentioned in the significant publication of Grete Jalk “40 Years of Danish Furniture Design”, vol. 2, p. 157. Mirror still has a partly remaining maker mark by K. Thomsen and the desk had a handwritten name possible giving insight in it's providence and first owner.
This example is in good vintage condition, showing minor wear consistent with use. Some discolouring visible on the table top from items being rest on it and fading the finish. One small hairline crack on the underside of the back panel, not visible with normal use. The tambour mechanism operates wel, the drawers are structurally sound, and the wood surface bears some darkening and marks that contribute to its authenticity.
