Designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1965, the CH47 dining chair reflects the Danish designer’s enduring interest in the relationship between traditional craftsmanship, functional simplicity and sculptural form. Produced in 1975 at Carl Hansen & Søn, this set of six chairs is made in soaped oak, with gently curved backrests and distinctive, angular frames that lend the design its characteristic lightness. Each chair has been newly rewoven with natural Danish paper cord, restoring the seats for many more years of use. One chair shows a discreet, stable repair to the backrest, The last two images show the repaired backrest.
