Designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1950, the CH22 was among the inaugural collection produced by Carl Hansen & Søn and remains one of the designer's most celebrated lounge chairs. Characterized by its sculptural silhouette, exposed joinery and handwoven paper cord seat, the model exemplifies Wegner's mastery of cabinetmaking and organic form.
This matching pair was produced by Carl Hansen & Søn in 1967 and retains its original factory-applied grey-green painted finish, an uncommon colour that has developed a beautiful, even patina over nearly six decades. Both chairs retain their original manufacturer's labels and production markings.
The frames are in excellent structural condition with only minor age-related wear consistent with careful use. One armrest has received a small, professionally executed local retouch. The seats have been expertly rewoven in our atelier using traditional Danish natural paper cord, faithfully following the original weaving technique.
A highly original and exceptionally well-preserved pair of one of Wegner's most iconic designs.
